HOW TO CREATE A ROOF WITH THE CUT WITH PLANE TOOL
STEP 1:
In the top view, create a Block that creates a roof outline. It will only perform a helper function.
STEP 2:
In a side view, create two Blocks that will become roof elements. At this moment, they will not have any depth set. To make those Blocks, it is convenient to use the translate Block side tool (Block RMBM – right mouse button menu / Subbrush edition / Translate side). You can select other Block sides by selecting them with the left mouse button or using the toolbars:
STEP 3:
The upper edges may cross, you will cut them in a moment using the cut with plane tool so that they do not intersect:
After cutting and deleting the unnecessary parts:
STEP 4:
In the top view (XY), set the roof depth using the RMBM Customize selected tool. You can freely stretch roof elements:
STEP 5:
Cut the roof across; this will leave us with elements that make the sides of a pyramid and parts that are cut away (use the cut with plane tool):
After deleting the unnecessary roof parts that were cut away:
STEP 6:
Copy the two sides of a pyramid and rotate them by 90 degrees. Now you have four sides of a pyramid. Move them so they match:
STEP 7:
Use the same approach to create a smaller roof part for a window. Draw it in the front view:
STEP 8:
Stretch it so it intersects with the roof.
STEP 9:
Use the cut with plane tool to cut the smaller roof part to the roof edge. Remember that if Blocks intersect, nothing bad will happen. When the map is compiled, intersecting parts will be optimized away. The smaller roof part after cutting:
STEP 10:
Use the cut with plane tool to cut a hole in the roof for the smaller roof part. Do three cuts, the roof side will be divided into three parts. After cutting:
